What is the difference between active and passive speakers?
Active speakers have a built-in amplifier — just plug in power and an audio source. Edifier bookshelf speakers (R1280DBs, e25HD, etc.) are active. Passive speakers have no amplifier — they need an external amplifier to drive them. The Edifier P17, VQ5, and TD-series are passive. For multi-room audio, passive speakers + a central amplifier is the standard approach.
What is the difference between 8 Ohm and 70V/100V speakers?
8 Ohm speakers are for residential use — shorter cable runs (under 30m), better sound quality. 70V/100V speakers are for commercial installations (restaurants, churches, malls) — they handle long cable runs of 30m+ without signal loss using a transformer. For homes, always use 8 Ohm (VQ5 or P17). For commercial spaces, use 70V/100V (TD205, TD206).
How many rooms can the HoloWHAS support?
The HoloWHAS supports 8 independent zones with 16 speaker outputs (stereo pair per zone). Each zone can play a different audio source — e.g. Zone 1 plays Spotify while Zone 2 plays Airplay from an iPhone and Zone 3 plays FM radio. All controlled from one app.
Which speakers pair with the HoloWHAS?
The HoloWHAS outputs Hi-Fi 8 Ohm audio. Recommended pairings: VQ5 in-ceiling speakers (KSh 10,500/pair) for invisible ceiling audio, or Edifier P17 passive bookshelf speakers (KSh 18,500/pair) for visible shelf-mounted audio. Do NOT use 70/100V speakers with the HoloWHAS.
Can the in-wall amplifier play a welcome message?
Yes. The in-wall amplifier with knob control (KSh 12,500) has a welcome audio mode. Load a 30-second audio file via USB, and it plays automatically when triggered — by a door sensor, a smart switch, or a schedule. Perfect for AirBnB check-ins and hotel rooms.
How many TD-series speakers can one 100W amplifier power?
The 100W commercial amplifier can power 20+ TD205 or TD206 speakers on a 70/100V line. Each speaker has a tap selector (3W, 6W, or 10W) — set lower taps for background music to fit more speakers on the line, or higher taps for louder output with fewer speakers.
